Saraswathi is the consort of God Brahma and the goddess of knowledge,music and arts.She is also known by Saradha,Vaani,Kalaimagal,Kalaivaani,Veena pustaka dharani (the one holding books and a veena), Vaakdevi, Vagdevi, Vani (all meaning "Goddess of  speech"), Varadhanayagi (the one bestowing boons) and by many other names. Hindus worship her not only for "academic knowledge", but for "divine knowledge" essential to achieve "moksha".The power of speaking is called Saraswati or Vani, or the goddess of learning, and the birthplace of the goddess of learning is the mouth of Brahma.
